The Holga: A Beautiful Piece of Junk

Updated: Dec 15, 2025

I'm in the midst of shooting with this camera. It's cheap, plastic, and has horrible light leaks. I love this camera. I pulled this camera out of an old box and it is at least 30 years old. The obstacles are attractive. A crappy plastic lens. Almost zero control. 4 focus settings. Two different exposure choices: Sunny f11 @ 1/100 sec and Cloudy F8 @ 1/100 sec. The film roll pictured above will be developed soon. I'll post here if there's anything good on it. Also I'll post old Holga contact sheets if I can find them. It is definitely the most affordable medium format camera can buy. Check it out HERE.

These or this? These images were taken with the Holga many years ago. At the time, I printed the image on the far left on 11 x 14 BW fiber based paper and never touched these negatives again. However the last few months I've experimented with cyanotype printing. While inspecting this neg sheet, I discovered that these three images might work very nicely as a triptych.
