I spent most of March running around docks and warehouses with the guys from Designvox. It was an interesting shoot. This work was done for a firm by the name of Port Logistics Group. It was fascinating to hear their story and to learn about the methods by which products make their way around the globe.
Port of Long Beach. I’ve shot down in this neighborhood before, but never like this. We had unprecedented access to the port. We were excited to get so close to the action here.
To show the expanse of there operations, we found ourselves climbing onto all manner of fork lifts, etc. After this picture was taken we were raised to the roof to get a wide shot of the space.
Due to space and expanse, a dolly wasn’t part of the equipment package. That meant that we needed to improvise. This was our creation. It isn’t pretty, but it did a great job.
Port of Long Beach. The director and I framing up a shot.
Here is one of our interview setups. We used one of the old Hasselblad 80mm still lenses adapted to the Canon mount for the RED. It created a very pleasing image for these shots.
